I live around a lot little kids and the best way I can describe that is "demonic". My roommate describes them as "Children of the Corn... Bread" and it's fairly accurate. They seem to be sweet little kids but they keep running around and doing silly things. Just yesterday, one kid was playing with his new toy car down 2 flights of stairs. Cars DRIVE, not fall. But that wasn't the worst thing I saw this week. Worse thing was a little kid was throwing glass in a park as a way to have fun. Little baby boy, maybe 4 years old, was throwing shards of glass he found on the floor and smashing them...
Where are the parents???
I understand that it's not easy to raise a kid; that's why I'm not doing it.
The little kids in my building are actually quite nice and are under a fairly close watch from the mother, making sure her children aren't doing something dangerous. But the little boy throwing glass part has me at a weird stance. I was assuming the mom was the only other person in this park, but she was roughly 20 feet away, shouting on the phone in Spanish and watching her son from that distance. She see's him throwing the glass he's finding on the floor, and does nothing. She doesn't talk to him, she doesn't move him away from the area with broken glass, she doesn't even stop the phone call and tells her son to stop; she just keeps talking on the phone and continues to let him do what he's doing.
This is a good case of "bad babysittin'."
That was a quote from Dr. Hibbert of the Simpsons. I have been using that quote for bad parenting for years. I know children are hard to deal with, but please, shards of glass is not a child's play thing. That's like lesson 101.
