Reading More Makes Society Better

I just read an interesting article that shows the importance of reading as a society. Basically by forcing a young author to pitch his story to some big time publisher is not just an embarrassing act but also an important factor in improving our society. Scientists have studied that the neurological pathways that are fired up from reading fictional stories actually strengthen our reasoning for skillful navigation through social and empathetic abilities. Even from other species that don't necessarily use verbal communication act in the same way through story telling.
