Church vs Gwar

Yeah this is a weird title but hear me out. My dad visited my Grandma on Mother's day, which was also on Sunday. To make her feel super special, he also accompanied her to church. And he believes that the intention of church is not to deliver the message of the bible, but more of a community based theatrical performance. And sadly enough my only association to this is Gwar.

It's essentially the SAME thing. You NEVER go to see Gwar based on what their lyrics are. I think only about 40% of people there actually know what the words are, even though they're pretty basic and somehow disgusting. I'd say the percentages for people who've read the bible are pretty much the same.

But back to my main point, you always go to see Gwar for their performances. It almost feels the same way when you go to church, it's a performance. It's a ritual to show that your connected to the community by going to the same location to watch the service, remember a few quotes, and enjoy the performance of music, dance, and random jokes you'd come across during a couple of hours by being there.
